At this free networking event, participants had the chance to connect directly with representatives of various funding and granting organizations that support youth and arts projects in Ontario.

Participants learned about different funding opportunities, got face-to-face time with potential funders, and gained the knowledge to help them overcome barriers in accessing funding.

The goal of this session was to help youth make relationships with funders and sources of support for their arts projects.

This event also saw amazing spoken word piece performed by PSL’s Patrick de Belen, and the event’s music was provided by DJ Flex of All Trades Funder Speed Dating 2015 received support from the following funders: Toronto Arts Council, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Factor, the City of Toronto, and Art Reach.

On November 25, 2014, Art Reach × Youth Opportunities Fund hosted their annual networking event, Funder Speed Dating.

At this free networking event, participants had a chance to connect directly with representatives of various funding and granting organizations, learned about different funding opportunities, got some face-to-face time with potential funders, and gained knowledge to help overcome barriers in accessing funding.Guest funders included: Kate Fraser, Art Reach; Okeima Lawrence, City of Toronto; Suzanne Paes, City of Toronto; Kristina Hausmanis, Street ARToronto; Ashton Shearer, CUE; Erin Kiyonaga, FACTOR; Carolyn Gloude, Ontario Arts Council; Janice Lambrakos, Ontario Arts Council; Tabish Surani, Youth Opportunities Fund/Ontario Trillium Foundation; and Peter Kingstone, Toronto Arts Council.On November 27th, 2013, Art Reach hosted it’s annual Funder Speed Dating networking event.At this event, youth had the chance to meet face to face with potential funders in order to better understand the funding available to them in the City of Toronto.Youth were able to discuss their projects with funders and ask questions about getting their programs off the ground. This year, funders included: Kate Fraser, Art Reach Toronto; Laurie O’Dell, Identify N’ Impact – City of Toronto; Suzanne Paes, Identify N’ Impact – City of Toronto; Lilie Zendel, Street ARToronto – City of Toronto; Jason Samilski, CUE Collective; Denis Le Febvre, Laidlaw Foundation; Michelle Miller-Guillot, Cultural Development Fund – Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration; Bushra Junaid, Outreach and Development Manager – Ontario Arts Council Michael Murray, Ontario Arts Council, Anne-Marie Beneteau, CI Grant Program & Youth Opportunities Fund – Ontario Trillium Foundation; Andrew Suri, Community Arts Program – Toronto Arts Council; Kerry Swanson, Outreach and Evaluation Officer – Toronto Arts Council; and Margo Charlton, Theatre Officer & TAF Research Manager – Toronto Arts Council Youth participant Markus Starks commented, “the funder speed dating event really help me to see the available funding out there.I met many contacts and was able to shake hands and reason with most of the funding organization’s ambassadors.I want to thank Art Reach and the volunteers for this amazing opportunity to learn!” Funders included: Andrew Suri- Toronto Arts Council; Nasreen Khan and Michael Murray- Ontario Arts Council; Ana Skinner- Laidlaw Foundation; Anne-Marie Beneteau- Ontario Trillium Foundation; Carol Law- Ministry of Citizenship & Immigration; Giselle Wiazek- Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Sport; Jason Samilski- CUE Collective; Derick Asante- Art Reach; Brent Bain- FACTOR; Augusto Mathias- City of Toronto; and Shequita Thompson- I’NI Funding.The event was an opportunity for youth to meet with grant staff from Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council, Laidlaw Foundation, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Factor, City of Toronto Identify ‘N Impact Fund and Toronto Enterprise Fund.The purpose of the event was to provide youth with funding information, resources and an opportunity for networking.The event opened with a short krump dance performance by urban dance crew North Buck, and commenced with presentations from each funding organization.
